About the Opportunity
Mid-Minnesota Legal Aid (MMLA) is seeking a law student intern, preferably for the full academic year. A single fall semester placement may be available if needed.
This is a hybrid position. Most work will be completed remotely using MMLA-issued laptops and accounts. In-person work will take place at our downtown Minneapolis office and may also include visits to community partner locations.
This is an excellent opportunity for students who want to gain practical legal experience while making a meaningful impact in their community.
Why MMLA?
- MMLA provides all clerks with comprehensive training and meaningful learning opportunities to develop their legal skills.
- We are genuinely committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive workplace. We welcome the unique identities, experiences, and perspectives that each person brings.
- Our mission is equal justice for all. In your cover letter, please share how your background and experiences can contribute to advancing this mission.
- Discrimination and harassment have no place at MMLA. We are committed to maintaining a respectful, supportive, and inclusive workplace where everyone can thrive.
- Diversity, equity, and inclusion are core values of Mid-Minnesota Legal Aid and are integrated into every aspect of our work. We recognize the significant and disproportionate impact of racism, as well as Minnesota's racial disparities, on our clients and staff. As a result, we devote particular attention to advancing racial justice.
Expected Time Commitment
- 4-5 hours per week for internships that are unpaid and not for academic credit.
- For paid internships or internships for academic credit, students must complete the required number of hours established by the applicable program.
- Students will not be expected to work during school breaks or when MMLA offices are closed.
