About the Role
The Adams County Court of Common Pleas, Domestic Relations Section, is seeking a dedicated Paralegal to provide vital legal and administrative support to the Title IV-D Attorney. This role plays a key part in ensuring that children and families receive the medical and financial support they are entitled to under child support law, and supports the efficient administration of justice within the Domestic Relations Section.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate scheduling of support, paternity, and evidentiary hearings with the Judge’s chambers and attorneys.
- Assist the Title IV-D Attorney with case preparation, court order review, and document drafting.
- Generate subpoenas, issue and vacate bench warrants, and process commitment forms. Serve as liaison for motions, transmitting documents to the Title IV-D Attorney and presiding Judge.
- Perform notary duties and manage docketing for the Pennsylvania Appellate Courts as required.
- Attend court hearings, meetings, and trainings, assisting the Title IV-D Attorney as needed. Communicate effectively with clients, attorneys, court staff, and external agencies.
- Handle special projects and other duties assigned by management.
Minimum Qualifications
- Associate’s degree in paralegal studies or paralegal certificate required.
- 1-2 years of legal experience preferred; prior Domestic Relations experience in PA a plus.
- Knowledge of federal, state, and local rules and regulations pertaining to child support cases preferred.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and comfortable managing multiple tasks in a deadline-driven environment.
- Exceptional organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail. Ability to maintain confidentiality and communicate professionally in oral and written forms.
- Must successfully pass required criminal background checks and clearances.
