POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the supervision and guidance of the Associate Public Defender, the Secretary provides support and performs administrative task as directed.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Regular attendance and punctuality are essential to this job.
- Answers incoming telephone calls and in-person reception.
- Must be familiar with general office procedures and practices.
- Must maintain good relationship with other tribal departments
- Maintain confidentially and sign a confidentiality agreement.
- Prepare case files
- Prepare and submit travel and expense reports per Tribal Policies and procedures.
- Able to order supplies and equipment
- Willing to take directions and in a multitasked filled position
- Participate in Human Resources training as directed
- Other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience
- Must possess a High School diploma or GED or obtain within six (6) months of hire
- Work experience in the secretarial field
- Knowledge of use of office equipment; copy machine, computer, phone etiquette;
Preferred Experience

Computer skills: Microsoft. Excel and Microix - Previous experience working with office budgets
Additional Requirements
- Be able to pass a background check and be eligible for the Tribe’s auto insurance.
- Must not have been convicted of a felony or misdemeanor within one (1) year of the
date of this application.
- Must be willing to undergo alcohol and drug testing and be willing to sign agreement
consenting to such testing throughout term of employment. Failure to pass alcohol/drug
test or failure to maintain confidentiality may be grounds for dismissal.
NECESSARY QUALIFICATIONS
- Must pass a pre-employment drug/alcohol test
- Must have a current driver’s license
