The United States Attorney's Office for the Eastern District of New York's mission is to investigate, prosecute and deter violations of federal statutes, enforce and represent the interests of the United States in civil litigation, uphold civil, constitutional and victims' rights, and foster partnerships with other federal, state and local government agencies and community groups. This job does not have an education qualification requirement. This Legal Administrative Specialist provides a wide range of technical, analytical, and legal support services to the Civil Division of the Eastern District of New York.

TIME-IN-GRADE REQUIREMENTS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-11is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-12 level.

Typical work assignments will include:
- Conducting in-depth analysis of a variety of specialized legal topics and points of law.
- Drafting and/or preparing letters, legal documents, forms and reports as requested.
- Managing and maintaining discovery and other documentation in electronic and hard copy formats that pertain to cases.
- Providing advanced support for complex civil cases involving large volumes of electronic case materials, including processing, organizing, reviewing, producing, and presenting electronic discovery.
- Advising attorneys, legal support staff, and members of our client agencies on electronic discovery strategies, litigation support tools, technical requirements, production specifications, and best practices for managing complex or non-standard electronic evidence.
- Providing assistance for case preparation and presentation.
To qualify at the GS-12 level, you must possess:
Specialized Experience: At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors) performing (3) of the (4) duties below:
- Providing expert level analysis and advice regarding technological tools or solutions for litigation support of federal cases;
- Analyzing litigation support project requirements to define or understand project objectives, sequence of events, work effort, durations of tasks, and/or associated resource requirements;
- Processing electronically stored information in various electronic file formats to prepare it for case team review, for production in discover, and/or for filing or presentation as exhibits in court, or other uses during litigation; and/or
- Maintaining document review databases of voluminous discovery and/or case materials for cases.
