General Summary:

The Paralegal assigned to the Major Offender Division provides support to Assistant District Attorney (ADAs) and Investigators throughout the investigation and prosecution of criminal cases. This position reports directly to the Chief ADA of the section.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Review and monitor assigned cause numbers daily, ensuring all pending tasks are completed accurately.
  • Attend meetings with Assistant District Attorneys (ADAs), witnesses, and other personnel to assist with case preparation.
  • Research, identify, and obtain the names and contact information of potential complainants and witnesses related to assigned cases.
  • Prepare and draft memos, reports, and correspondence
  • Work within multiple software programs, databases, and internal systems to manage case information and support daily operations.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word
  • Working knowledge of case management, law enforcement, and investigative systems, including Helios, HPD databases, HCSO systems, Cellebrite, Guardian, and Pathfinder.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact with attorneys, investigators, law enforcement personnel, witnesses, and the public.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records.

Hours:

  • This is a full time, in-person position. Days and hours of work are typically Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Hours may vary based on the business needs of the department.

Required Education/Experience:

  • Associates Degree in Paralegal Studies or a paralegal certificate

Salary (Starting):

  • $31.54 hourly/ $65,603.20 annually
