Are you considering law school, corporate compliance, or a career in the commercial construction industry?

We are seeking a highly motivated, detail-oriented Undergraduate Legal Intern to join our In-House Legal Department for an intensive, structured 6-7-week summer program. This internship offers rare, hands-on exposure to corporate operations and construction law within a global organization. You will work closely with our corporate counsel and project risk teams, gaining a massive competitive edge for your future career or law school applications.

Responsibilities:

  1. Assist legal team in the areas of:
    1. Legal Research (Construction Frameworks, Mergers & Acquisition)
  1. Learn the basics of how major construction projects are structured legally.
  2. Assist the team with legal research regarding industry regulations and corporate Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A).
  3. Organize foundational legal documents and summarize research findings for corporate counsel.
    1. Contracts (Prime, Sub, Supplier, Service) and Negotiation
  1. Gain exposure to real-world commercial contracts: Prime Contracts, Subcontracts, Supplier Agreements, and Service Agreements.
  2. Learn how to spot key risks in contract clauses.
  3. Shadow corporate attorneys during live contract negotiations with clients and vendors.
    1. Insurance and Bonds
  1. Explore how a global company protects itself from financial risk.
  2. Help review project insurance certificates and performance/payment bonds.
  3. Assist in auditing project files to ensure all subcontractors meet compliance and insurance guidelines.
    1. Warranty and Maintenance
  1. Study the "closeout" phase of a construction project.
  2. Review structural warranties and maintenance agreements for our landmark façade installations.
  3. Help track ongoing compliance timelines and warranty obligations.
    1. Licensing + Preliminary Lien Notices
  1. Learn about state-by-state contractor licensing laws and how corporations stay compliant.
  2. Assist in preparing, reviewing, and tracking preliminary mechanic's lien notices and waivers (critical tools used to secure company payments).
    1. Hostile Litigation
  1. Experience the high-stakes world of corporate dispute resolution and active lawsuits.
  2. Assist counsel by organizing legal exhibits, conducting document review for discovery, and sitting in on strategy meetings for active litigation cases.

Requirements:

  • Education: Current undergraduate college student (rising Juniors or Seniors preferred). Ideal majors include Pre-Law, Political Science, Business Administration, Construction Management, or related fields.
  • Skills: Strong reading comprehension, excellent written communication, and high attention to detail.
  • Tech-Savvy: Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Attributes: A curious mind, a strong work ethic, and the ability to handle confidential corporate information with total discretion.
