The role:
The Immigration Legal Assistant is responsible for providing administrative and clerical support to both attorneys and clients. This role involves communicating with clients to gather essential information, preparing legal documents, applications, and evidence for the attorney’s review, and managing case files. The immigration Legal assistant will also guide clients through the immigration process throughout the duration of their case. Working closely with the Attorney as part of the legal team, the immigration legal assistant is responsible for collaborating effectively with their team members to achieve the firm’s and clients’ goals while enhancing the client’s experience.
Position Responsibilities:
- Ensure our Case Management Software, and/or spreadsheets are consistently updated and accurate on a daily basis to promote effective communication across departments.
- Communicate with various law enforcement agencies regarding records, case status updates, and other requirements, including processes applicable payments.
- Draft legal documents, including routine cover letters, affidavits, and questionnaires; files applications, supporting evidence, motions, and pleading in accordance with judicial procedures.
- Engage and collaborate effectively with the team to discuss assigned cases or projects and create action plans to ensure successful case outcomes.
- Effectively manage workload to complete tasks on time, meeting company service standards, and escalate any blockers as needed.
- Research and analyze country condition articles, legal articles, and other legal sources providing an annotated index for attorneys’ review.
- Handle unexpected situations, including government policy changes, law enforcement agency updates, or USCIS/Court responses, and respond appropriately.
- Review and organize case files into their final form for attorney review, ensuring they are prepared for delivery to courts, clients, co-counsel, and opposing counsel.
- Take responsibility for ensuring that packets are finalized and sent out promptly by the Office Team.
- Collaborate with other members of the legal team to respond to complex client inquiries throughout the entire duration of the case.

Mandatory Requirements
- Fully bilingual (English/Spanish)
- Experience in Immigration Law.
- Bachelor's Degree in Legal Studies or a related field (preferred, not required)
Schedule:
- 40 hours per week, 5 days a week.
- Monday to Friday from 9 am to 5:30 pm CST
Qualifications
- At least 2-3 years of experience in a similar position.
- Experience in the legal services industry.
- Experience in US Immigration Law.
- Proficient with learning and troubleshooting new technologies.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and delegate them when appropriate.
- Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.
- Proficient with Google Suite or related software.
Physical Requirements:
This role may require prolonged periods of sitting, standing, or walking. Candidates should have the ability to communicate effectively, as well as using their hands for tasks such as typing or handling materials. Limited lifting may also be required.
